Desert Springs is in Almeria, in South East Andalucia. This part of Spain has the warmest, sunniest, and driest winter climate of all mainland Europe. Millennia of endless sunshine and low humidity have created a rugged, desert landscape that is both austere and dramatic. Spectacular sierras (mountain) rise out of the desert behind the coast. ‘The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly’ and many other spaghetti westerns were filmed here because it resembles the deserts of the US Southwest.

Desert Springs has an unbeatable location on a plateau that rises above the Almanzora river plain, just a few kilometres inland from the beach resorts of Vera and Villaricos. The nearest town is the market town of Cuevas del Almanzora and there are also shops in Palomares. The beach and the pretty harbour town of Villaricos, are just beyond Palomares, and have a wealth of good bars and restaurants, including an excellent beach bar.

Country Villas

These are large 3 & 4 bedroom detached country villas, ranged along the fairways of the Indiana golf course. Their design faithfully reflects that of the larger country “cortijos” and “haciendas” of the Almanzora and Spanish Levante region. These were built to defend against the heat of summer, but sadly there are few originals left here now and the style has become better known as being Spanish Colonial, as in the Mexico of the Spanish era, where they performed a similar role of keeping the summer heat at bay.

All have a gated front court, a walled off garden immediately overlooking the desert golf course with spectacular views and a private swimming pool.

They have extensive and cool colonnaded verandas with fans and private roof terraces. Suffice it to say that the joinery, fittings, tiling and finishing throughout are of the best and most luxurious quality, with air conditioning, fully fitted kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, cloakrooms etc. Each property has a single garage or large underground parking area, with an option to extend to create a massive cool underground area for bodegas and games rooms.
